The to do List.....

As with any planned surgery there is always a list of things to be done.  however with bariatric surgery the requirements can be overwhelming at times.  since my health insurance would be covering the procedure I had to meet an even longer list requirements.

3.EKG, labs, chest xray
4. cardiac clearance (stress test)
5. Psychological Evaluation
6. Nutrition class
9. 5 years of documented Morbid Obesity
10. Patient Education class
11. Vitamins
12. Stop smoking (thankfully I don't smoke)
13. Exercise program
14. Weight Loss program monitored by a medical provider for 6 months or more
15. Diet Changes:
No eating in front of the TV/Computer
Add a high protein shake for skipped meals
Eliminate starches (wheat, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, corn, tortillas)
Eliminate drinking fluids with caffeine, carbonation, calories, diet soda, coffee
     No fast food and buffets
     No fired foods
     No sweets
     No snacking between meals
Eat slowly, chewing each bite 20-30 times each
Make sure to eat 3 meals a day if you miss a meal have a protein shake instead
Make a meal, a meal. Sit down at the table, turn of the TV and eat slowly
Eat 60 grams of protein a day
Add more vegetables and fruits
Stop drinking sodas and juices.

 This was a long list.
Of course the hardest part are the diet changes.
